APPOINTMENT OF EC REVIVES NEPSE

The appointment of Chief election commissioner along with other four commissioners by the President has brought a sort of jubilation in the share market. The local bourse, that was in the declining rampage since 20th march, was able to surge by 2.37 points  to close at 522.04 levels today.  With this news, it has rekindle the investors to stop profit booking and engage in the holding strategy in hope of more return in the near future as the prospect of announcing a election date is just around the corner.  

Similarly, the news of NRB approval to carry out the selling transaction between IFIC and, NB Group and Bank Asia stake’s today propelled the Nepal Bangladesh Bank (NBB) scrip by Rs 8 today. With this approval,  the path is now cleared for IFIC to carry out the buying transaction from NB group and Bank Asia to increase its stake in NBB. The increase in the NBB from the initial phase carried out a signaling effect in the  other banking scrips as a result the Banking sector today soar by 4.33 points.

Similarly, Development also ascend by 0.39 points whereas Finance dropped by 0.08 points. While, the increase in the level of Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) and Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 20 and Rs 10 respectively uplifted the Hydro sector up by 13.22 points. Likewise, the incline in Nepal Life Insurance Co. Ltd. (NLIC) and Sagarmatha Insurance Co. Ltd (SIL) by Rs 27 and Rs 20 respectively pushed the Insurance sector further south by 2.28 points.

As for Hotels and Others, both dropped by 0.75 and 4.7 points respectively. The plummet in the level of Oriental Hotel Ltd. (OHL) dropped by Rs 2 and Others Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) by Rs 4 caused the respective sectors to descent today.

Overall there was trade of 80 scrips among which only 44 scrips increased 10 remained intact and 26 scrips decreased. The highest gainer for the day was, Western Development Bank Limited (WDBL), closed at Rs 90, with Rs 8 or 9.76% gain. Whereas the highest loser of the day was, Sewa Bikas Bank Limited  (SEWA), closed at Rs 124, with Rs 16 or 11.43% loss.

In case of the highest shares traded, Siddhartha Investment Growth Scheme-1 (SIGS1), closed at Rs 11.65, topped with 76,900 units. In terms of turnover, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBB), closed at Rs 325, topped with 52,172 units worth Rs 16,941,607 via 106 transactions; in which Broker no 32 (Premier Securities Company Limited) was the most active Broker with 30.74% stand alone dealing of NBB, tallying 16,140 units worth Rs 5,208,475 via 22 transactions.

Altogether there were trade of 339,663 units of share via 1,333 transactions worth Rs 87,826,286; the market capitalization at the end of the day stood at Rs 506,859.14 million.
