Altitude Air Helicopter Crashes in Lobuche, Pilot Escapes Unhurt

An Altitude Air helicopter met with an accident while attempting to land at the Lobuche helipad on Wednesday morning.

According to tourism entrepreneur Kaji Bista, the helicopter, piloted by Captain Bivek Khadka, encountered difficulties during landing and subsequently crashed at the site. Fortunately, Captain Khadka escaped without injuries, though the aircraft sustained considerable damage.

Spokesperson for the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN), Gyanendra Bhul, informed that the helicopter, bearing the call sign 9N-AMS, had departed from Lukla at 7:45 AM for a routine flight to Lobuche. The accident occurred during the landing phase.

Rescue and technical teams have reached the area and are currently assessing the damage and investigating the cause of the incident.

Authorities have assured that a detailed inquiry will be conducted to determine the factors behind the crash and to ensure safety measures in future mountain flight operations.
