KATHMANDU, MAY 14:

Finance Minister Shanker Prasad Koirala has said energy, agriculture and roads will continue to receive priority in the coming fiscal year budget.

Speaking at a discussion on budget between the Finance Ministry and the National Planning Commission on Monday, he said the forthcoming budget will follow a midway, with priority also to fiscal discipline and good governance.

Pointing out the need for a separate mechanism to check financial irregularities in the local bodies, the Finance Minister said the trend of 'scattering funds' would be put to an end in the coming budget.

Chief Economic Advisor to the Finance Ministry Dr Chiranjibi Nepal said this was the right time to make good use of the state funds, which were earlier being misused.
