ADB, Norway govt provide assistance to Nepal

KATHMANDU, MAR 24: 

The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of Norway have provided an assistance of around Rs 8.053 billion to the Government of Nepal for the implementation of Electricity Transmission Expansion and Supply Improvement Project.

At a programme organised today at the Ministry of Finance, Joint Secretary at the Ministry, Lal Shanker Ghimire and Kathmandu In-charge of the ADB, Paolo Spantigati signed the agreement.

The ADB has provided 19 million US dollars as Grant and 56 million US dollars as loan assistance. Similarly, the Government of Norway is to provide 25 million US dollars as grant through the ADB.

The agreement stated that the assistance will be spent to increase capacity of the Kohalpur- Mahendranagar 132 KV, Khimti Hydropower Project, Tinau and Sundarijal Small Hydropower Project, capacity development and extension of electricity transmission lines and to increase electricity lines.
