AAN election hopefuls announce their candidacies

KATHMANDU, DEC 16 -

Managing director of Mars Advertising Agency Santosh Shrestha’s group has announced its candidates for a new leadership at the Advertising Association of Nepal (AAN), the apex body of advertising agencies.

Mohamad Akhtar is standing as the candidate for vice-chairman, Narayan Shrestha for general secretary, Yadav Shrestha for treasurer, GP Timilsina for secretary and Shambu Adhikari for co-treasurer. Similarly, Muna Shrestha, Salikram Ghimire, Pankaj Pradhan, Gajendra Kakshapati, Sekhar Kasaju and Ananta Mainali are candidates for members. The 15th annual general meeting of AAN scheduled to be held on December 18 will be electing a new executive committee.

Shrestha’s panel said in a press release that they would enhance the capacity of advertising agencies, provide creative training, localize foreign advertisements to expand the domestic advertising market and mount pressure on the government to ensure the rights of advertising agencies in its planned new communication policy.  

Likewise, the panel of Rabindra Kumar Rijal, managing director of Key Advertising Services, has announced its candidates. Rijal is contesting for president while the panel has named Ujaya Shakya, managing director of Outreach Nepal, as the candidate for vice-president, Kiran Gaire of Ad Solutions & Marketing for general secretary, Pitambar Pokharel of SP Media for treasurer, and Dhiraj Lamic-hhane, executive director of NC Advertising, for secretary.

The candidates for the executive committee members are Yamuna Paudel, Rabi Shrestha, Jeevan Pokharel, Roshan Prasain, Khem Prasad Chhatkulli, Minu Raj Bhandari and Ramesh Puri.
