9.9 MW Iwa Khola Hydropower Project under RIDI Unoperational Consequent To Floods

The commercial production of electricity at the 9.9 MW-capacity Iwa Khola Hydropower Project under Ridi Power Company Limited (RIDI) has been interrupted due to damages consequent to floods.
RIDI on Wednesday issued a press release to notify that resultant to the damages caused by the floods, the commercial production of electricity at both units of the Iwa Khola Hydropower Project has been stopped since Ashad 1st, 2080.
The headworks, headrace pipe, equipment at the powerhouse and infrastructural damages have been inflicted due to the flood, informed the company.
Earlier, the Independent Power Producers' Association - Nepal (IPPAN) had reported that 13 hydropower projects were damaged by floods on Ashad 1 and 2. According to IPPAN, these projects have a total capacity of 150 MW, which has been affected.
