0.29 POINTS UP NEPSE

The secondary market of Nepal, Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse), today gained an upward movement of 0.29 points. In the Initial hour though the market made a surge of more than 6 points, the lack of investors’ confidence to buy at the higher level pressured the market down. But at the end of the hour the local bourse was able to climb up again, to sustain itself in the green pasture to close at 497.36 levels.
The benchmark index has been trading between the 490 to 505 levels, now for four continuous trading days which in technical term is a sideways movement. With this movement continuously prevailing in the market, it signals that a big wave of movement is about to take place in the market. As today also around this level, the market turnover was more than Rs 100 million, the market has come to maintain a strong base to trade for the upcoming days.
Among the sub-indices today, Hydro, Finance, Others and Manufacturing inclined by 2.74, 0.38, 3.52 and 7.63 points respectively. Under Finance, Zenith Finance Ltd. (ZFL) has decided to give 10.53% Cash dividend subject to approval from NRB and its upcoming AGM. The announcement helped the scrip to propel by Rs 4 or 3.92% to close at Rs 106 making it the highest gainer of the day. Likewise in Hydro, the jump in the price of Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (AHPC) and Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL) by Rs 3 and Rs 4 supported in the sector growth.
The decliners in the sub-indices today were Banking, Development, Hotels and Insurance by 0.22, 1.24, 7.38 and 3.68 points respectively. The huge fall in Hotels was mainly because of the plummet in the price of Soaltee Hotel Ltd. (SHL) by Rs 6. Whereas the fall in the prices of Siddhartha Bank Ltd, Nabil Bank Ltd. Everest Bank Ltd and Standard Chartered Bank Ltd mainly dragged the Banking Sector down.
Overall there were 84 scrips traded among which 36 scrips increased, 12 remain intact and 36 scrips decreased. The highest loser for the day was Shangrila Development Bank Ltd. (SADBL), closed at Rs 116, with Rs 10 or 7.94%.
In case of highest share traded and turnover, Nepal Bangladesh Bank Ltd. (NBB), closed at Rs 267, topped with 73,030 units worth Rs 19,920,795 via 120 transactions; in which Broker No 20 (Sipla Securities Pvt. Limited) was the most active broker with 33.44% stand alone dealing of NBB, tallying 24,410 units worth Rs 6,661,800 via 36 transactions which includes 3 matching transactions totaling 10,500 units worth Rs 2789500.
Overall 415,023 units of shares were traded worth Rs 133,885,710 via 1,643 transactions with the market capitalization of Rs 470,953.06 Millions.
