Taxi, truck, and tanker drivers in Kathmandu staged a demonstration today to voice their opposition to the government's decision to remove 20-year-old vehicles from the roads. The protest, organized by the Nationalist Taxi and Driver Business Association, caused traffic disruptions as the protesters occupied one lane of the Kalanki-Balaju section road.

During the protest, the drivers demanded several key points, including the revocation of the decision to remove 20-year-old vehicles, the establishment of dedicated parking stands for their vehicles, and the differentiation between private vehicles and rental vehicles in terms of service provision.

Chanting slogans that criticized the government's policies and decisions for being detrimental to their livelihoods, the protesters emphasized their right to a sustainable living.

In the demonstration, the Nationalist Taxi and Driver Association also expressed their discontent with the government's actions. They organized a protest rally, starting from Kalanki Bafal Chowk, with various demands. These demands included the implementation of a system allowing drivers to work and eat at home, the abolition of the policy of carrying passengers with red plates, an end to traffic-related abuses, mandatory taxi stands, and the removal of the 20-year restriction on vehicle operation.

The rally proceeded along the ring road, with participants passionately calling for their demands to be addressed by the government.
