Rainfall Disrupts Travel: Six Roads Still Blocked, Partial Traffic Resumes in Others

Heavy rainfall across various regions of Nepal has triggered floods and landslides, leaving six major road sections fully blocked as of today. Authorities report that efforts are underway to clear these routes, while several others have resumed one-way traffic.
According to Deputy Inspector General Binod Ghimire, spokesperson for Nepal Police, teams have managed to reopen roads at four locations, though only partially. Work is ongoing to restore full two-way movement.
In Sindhupalchok district, landslides have obstructed the Araniko Highway at three points—Kodari, Larcha, and Koplang—within Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality.
Floodwaters have also disrupted the Mahendra Highway in Binayi Tribeni-1, Nawalparasi (East), leaving a long line of vehicles and stranding commuters.
Further west, the Beni–Jomsom road in Myagdi has been blocked at Rupse, and the Bheri Corridor in Dolpa is inaccessible at Chhalghat, Tripurasundari-1 due to rising river levels.
Meanwhile, roads at several other locations have reopened partially. These include:
-
Rabi–Rake–Bhetetar road in Dhankuta
-
BP Highway in Dhulikhel-11, Kavre
-
Narayanghat–Mugling road in Ichchhakamana, Chitwan
-
Kaligandaki Corridor in Kaligandaki-6, Gulmi
-
Jumla–Mugu road in Sinja-2, Jumla
DIG Ghimire assured that police and local agencies are working continuously to clear debris and restore normal traffic at the earliest.
