NTA Prepares to Launch Free WiFi in 10 Cities under Minister Kharel’s Directive

The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has started preparations to install free WiFi services in public areas across 10 cities nationwide, including the Kathmandu Valley.
This move follows a directive from Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Jagdish Kharel, who instructed ministry officials to implement the service shortly after assuming office.
According to NTA, the initiative aims to improve digital access in urban centers. NTA is working on identifying suitable locations and coordinating with service providers to roll out the project nationwide. The authority has confirmed that necessary coordination with internet service providers is in progress to ensure smooth implementation.
