NIC Asia Bank Limited has enabled NEPALPAY Card acquiring services from Nepal Clearing House Limited (NCHL), furthering its digital banking capabilities. The bank can now acquire NEPALPAY cards for its customers and accept international cards under the Discover network, including RuPay, at its ATMs and POS terminals.

The move is part of NIC Asia's initiative to offer digital payment services under multiple card schemes, including NEPALPAY, in line with its digital strategy and support for the national card system.

NEPALPAY Card is the national card scheme under the National Payment Switch (NPS), accepted within Nepal and globally through international partner Discover Network. It allows participating banks and financial institutions, payment service providers, and payment system operators to issue NEPALPAY Cards accepted at POS and ATM terminals in Nepal and abroad, while also enabling Discover and Discover-partnered cards to be used in Nepal.

The card has already been subscribed to by over 36 banks and financial institutions (BFIs), currently at various stages of rollout. It has been issued by 7 BFIs and acquired by 11 others, with the number expected to grow.

NIC Asia Bank is one of Nepal's leading commercial banks, serving millions of customers. The bank has been driving digital transformation across its services and currently operates 316 branches, 103 extension counters, 33 branchless banking units, and 604 ATM terminals nationwide.
