NEPSE Yearly Performance Highlights: Climbs 24.74% in FY 2081/82, Ending at 2,794.78

On the last trading day of the fiscal year 2081/82, the NEPSE Index closed at 2,794.78, marking a gain of 34.61 points from the previous day's close. Throughout the fiscal year, the index demonstrated notable volatility, rebounding 562.95 points from a recent low of 2,231.83 to its closing value of 2,794.78. Despite this recovery, the NEPSE Index remains 12.62% below its all-time high, which was achieved on August 18, 2021.

In today's trading session, the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) recorded a gain, gaining 34.61 points (1.25%) to settle at 2,794.78. This follows a 34.46-point gain in the previous session.

The benchmark index opened at 2,759.58, touching an intraday high of 2,803.78, while the lowest point was 2,759.11. Total turnover for the day reached Rs. 14.03 Arba, with 43,111,416 shares traded across 330 companies through 99,505 transactions. The market capitalization stood at Rs. 46.56 Kharba, while the float market capitalization was recorded at Rs. 15.91 Kharba.

Butwal Power Company Limited (BPCL) topped the turnover chart, amounting to Rs. 61.8 Crores. The stock closed at Rs. 952.0.

Two companies led the gainers' list with a 10.0% gain each.

Meanwhile, Mai Khola Hydropower Limited (MKHL) recorded the steepest drop, falling 7.87%.

Among sectors, the Development Bank Index registered the highest gain, gaining 3.86%, while the Trading Index saw the highest loss at 0.18%.

In the fiscal year 2080/81, the index rose by 6.83%. The table below shows the Nepse Index closing levels for the last 25 years.

In the fiscal year, 2081/82, shares worth over Rs 21.24 Kharba were traded through 41,182,829 transactions. The total number of traded shares in the fiscal year reached an impressive 4,844,878,108. During this period, NEPSE's market capitalization stood at Rs. 4.65 Million whereas floated market capitalization amounted to Rs. 1.59 Million.
