Efforts are underway to reopen the Narayangadh-Mugling road section, which has been blocked since midday on Thursday due to a landslide. If there are no additional landslides, the road is expected to become operational by evening. The landslide occurred in a three-kilometer stretch of Ichchakamana Rural Municipality-5 on Thursday afternoon at 1 o'clock, causing the road closure.
Ramesh Kumar Paudel, Chief of the Divisional Road Office in Bharatpur, was quoted as informing that the landslide removal work has been ongoing since 8:30 am today on both sides of the affected area. Despite encountering falling stones that hindered the progress, the work has been carried out cautiously.
To clear the landslide, two excavators and two loaders have been deployed. Paudel was quoted as stating that if there are no further landslides, the road will be opened for traffic by 5 pm, following the completion of the ongoing efforts.
Initially, the removal work was hindered by continuous dry landslides. However, as the volume of falling stones has decreased, the landslide situation has gradually improved since this morning. Although the road is expected to resume operations, there is currently a significant queue of vehicles, prompting authorities to urge commuters to consider alternative routes promptly.
