Laxmi Bank expands

Laxmi Bank has added two more branches to its network at Lamahi of Dang and Jaleshwor of Mahottari districts. Both Lamahi and Jaleshwor are the second branches of the bank opened in the respective districts, according to the press release issued on Tuesday. Laxmi Bank now has 42 branches, two extension counters and 52 ATMs spread across the country. With this expansion, the bank aims to further strengthen and proliferate its network in the mid-western and central region of the country, while complementing the existing network at Ghorahi and Janakpur. The branches also offer ATM service from both the branches for the convenience of its customers, the release adds.
CG wins accolades
KATHMANDU:
Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology has conferred the award for outstanding beer manufacturer to CG Brewery. The award was handed over by Industry Minister Mahesh Basnet during a function organised on Tuesday to mark the 14th Standards Day. CG Brewery, the only beer manufacturer in the country to receive the award, produces Nepal Ice and Real Gold, among other beer brands. These beer brands are extremely popular among Nepali consumers, as per the press statement.
Jagdamba gets award

Nepal Bureau of Standards and Metrology has conferred the NS Quality Award 2014 for the first time in history to a cement factory — Shubha Shree Jagdamba Cement Mills, Birgunj — with a letter of appreciation. The cement brand had received ‘Quality Management System ISO 9001:2008’ certification in the inception period itself, while also subsequently receiving ‘Environment Management System ISO 14001:2004’ certification — which was the first for a Nepali cement brand, as per the press statement issued on Tuesday. Similarly, the brand also recently received IS certification in its OPC and PSC cement from Bureau of Indian Standards.
Intex launches Aqua Star II smartphone

EOL Pvt Ltd, the sole authorised distributor of Intex smartphones for Nepal under CG Electronics, recently launched the much awaited model Aqua Star II in the Nepali market. Intex Aqua Star II comes with a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. Micro SD card supports up to 32GB of additional storage. The five-inch IPS display has an 840 x 480 resolution and a 2,000 mAh battery is also present. Its main feature to attract the end customers is the ability to take selfie pictures by tapping on the screen or by pressing the volume button, as per the press statement issued on Tuesday. The primary (rear) camera is an 8MP affair with autofocus and flash while the front facer is 5MP. It is priced at Rs 12,999 and is available throughout the country at the authorised dealer network. Along with the accessories of the phone, a customer gets a free 16GB memory card and an Intex Power bank free of cost, the statement adds.
Euribor in negative
PARIS: The three-month Euribor, the rate at which eurozone banks borrow from one another and serves as a reference for household and corporate lending, fell on Tuesday into negative territory for the first time, according to Bloomberg data. The three-month Euribor came in at minus 0.001 per cent on Tuesday.
