A massive landslide has completely blocked the Araniko Highway at Kodari in Bhotekoshi Rural Municipality-2, leading to the closure of the Tatopani border point. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning around 5 a.m. after continuous rainfall overnight.

Debris from the landslide-prone Iku area has covered the roadway, making travel and transport impossible. Authorities confirmed that the landslide was extensive and has made the area inaccessible.

The landslide remains active, making immediate clearance efforts unfeasible. The Iku section has long been categorized as a high-risk zone, with instability exacerbated by the 2015 earthquake that forced the relocation of the Kodari settlement.

Efforts are underway to coordinate between road division officials and local bodies to assess possible clearance measures once conditions improve.
