Kathmandu Metropolitan City Unanimously Passes NPR 25.88 Billion Budget for FY 2083/84
The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has unanimously passed its budget and programs for the fiscal year 2083/084, totaling 25 billion 88 crore 30 lakh 55 thousand rupees. Alongside the main budget, the economic bill and the appropriation bill were also approved during a municipal assembly meeting held at the Rashtriya Sabha Griha. This final approval came after a detailed discussion on the budget proposal originally presented by Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol on June 18 (Asar 4) during the fourth meeting of the assembly's 19th session.
Out of the total approved budget, 25 billion 13 crore 30 lakh 55 thousand rupees will be financed from the consolidated fund, while the remaining 75 crore rupees will be managed through external expenditure. The assembly members unanimously endorsed the financial plan after the speaker incorporated various amendment proposals and suggestions into the final motion.
Additionally, Macharaja Maharjan, the coordinator of the legislation committee and chairman of Ward No. 23, presented several amendment proposals for existing metropolitan laws. These included the first amendment to the Public Health Act 2080, the second amendment to the Education Act 2075, the first amendment to the Dispute Resolution (Procedure) Act 2075, the first amendment to the Disaster Management Act 2077, and the fourth amendment to the Employee Service Act 2077. The metropolitan city office announced that the fifth meeting of the municipal assembly will take place on Tuesday, July 7 (Asar 23) at 3:00 PM to further discuss these legal amendments and other related matters.
