A group of investor associations has jointly requested the Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) to temporarily halt share market trading in light of the country’s ongoing political uncertainty, security challenges, and the recent tragic incidents that have deeply unsettled the investment community.

In a letter submitted to the Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON), the associations argued that the prevailing environment has created panic among investors, raising the risk of panic selling and further destabilizing the capital market. They emphasized that continuing regular trading without addressing the current sensitivity could have severe negative consequences for investors and the overall financial system. The associations also underlined the need to prioritize investor confidence by ensuring stability before resuming market activities.

The appeal, signed by representatives of multiple investor groups, urged SEBON to coordinate with the Nepal Stock Exchange, CDS and Clearing Limited, and other relevant authorities to suspend trading until a conducive environment is restored. The associations stated that such a step would help protect investors’ interests, prevent unnecessary losses, and contribute to restoring confidence in Nepal’s capital market.
