Imports Worth Rs 31.3 Billion Through Rasuwagadhi Customs in Nine Months
Goods worth Rs 31.3 billion have been imported through the Rasuwagadhi Customs Point during the first nine months of the current fiscal year, reaffirming its role as a key hub for Nepal-China trade.
According to Tulsi Prasad Bhattarai, Chief Customs Officer at the Rasuwa Customs Office, the government collected Rs 6.42 billion in revenue from imports during the review period. He noted that trade activities have continued despite difficult terrain and natural challenges in the region.
Major imports through the border include roll cloth, ready-made garments, electric vehicles, hydropower and infrastructure construction materials, industrial raw materials, machinery parts, and equipment for the fast-track project being developed by the Nepal Army. Food items such as apples, garlic, and other consumables are also imported in large quantities.
On the export side, Nepal shipped goods worth around Rs 6.5 million to China. Export items included handicrafts, traditional attire, bamboo products, dry grass used in Tibetan regions, rice, and biscuits. Despite limited production capacity, demand for Nepali goods in the Chinese market is gradually increasing.
Trade through the border had faced major disruption after the Miteri Bridge was damaged by flooding in Lhendekhola on July 8, 2025. Regular import-export operations resumed only from December 2, 2025, following delays in reconstruction.
Despite past disruptions, Rasuwagadhi continues to play a vital role in facilitating cross-border trade between Nepal and China.
