House panel seeks PDNA report pronto
KATHMANDU:
Finance Committee of the Legislature-Parliament today directed the government to immediately prepare post-disaster needs assessment (PDNA) report including a concrete plan to rebuild the country following the April 25 earthquake.
Such a report would help take the reconstruction works effectively ahead while being a part of the preparations that the government is making for the upcoming international donors conference, said the Committee Chair Prakash Jwala.
The Committee meeting today has also urged the government to adopt measures of austerity and check unnecessary foreign junkets, feasts and misuse of government resources.
At the meeting, Finance Minister Ram Sharan Mahat had apprised members of the Committee of the preparations being made by the government for the donors conference and reconstruction and rebuilding.
The government is presently focused on relief support and the reconstruction shall begin with short-term and long-term plans before the monsoon, added Mahat.
He also claimed that special caution has been exercised in order to ensure that the relief distribution is not hampered in any way.
