The government has announced that it will sell shares of Rastriya Beema Company Limited (RBCL) and Bishal Bazar Company Limited (BBC) to the general public. Finance Minister Dr. Swarnim Wagle made the announcement while presenting the national budget for the fiscal year 2083/84 in Parliament.
According to the budget statement, the share divestment is part of the government’s broader institutional reform and restructuring programme aimed at improving efficiency and governance in public enterprises. The government stated that ownership in both entities will be gradually reduced by offering shares to the public.
The government has decided to open up shareholding in Rastriya Beema Company Limited and Bishal Bazar Company Limited as part of its plan to promote public participation in state-owned enterprises.
Both institutions are currently under government ownership and are expected to undergo partial privatization through public share offerings. The share sale will be implemented in the upcoming fiscal year, as outlined in the budget.
