Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari Calls for Peace and Harmony Following Violent Clashes in Sunsari
Former President Bidya Devi Bhandari has urged the public to exercise maximum restraint and maintain social harmony during the current sensitive situation, cautioning everyone against spreading rumors or making provocative statements.
In a press statement issued on Thursday, the former president expressed deep concern over recent community tensions and violent incidents reported in Sunsari and several other parts of the country over the past few days. She offered her heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the violence and wished a speedy recovery for those injured.
Emphasizing Nepal’s rich heritage as a nation of diverse ethnicities, languages, religions, and cultures, Bhandari highlighted that unity in diversity, mutual respect, and social harmony are the core strengths of the country. She stressed that protecting this legacy, handed down through generations, is a shared responsibility that must not be compromised under any circumstances.
Calling for peace and accountability, the former president urged the government, administrative authorities, and security agencies to conduct a fair, transparent, and credible investigation into the incidents.
