FNCCI initiates relief campaign
KATHMANDU, APR 27 - The Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) said on Monday that it has initiated nationwide relief campaign, ‘Operation Relief’, for the victims of devastating earthquake that struck the country on Saturday.
The country’s apex private sector body has set up its temporary office at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu for the purpose of relief collection. It said that the campaign will coordinate with government agencies, local community, international non-government organisations, Non Resident Nepalis and other private sector institutions to help bring succor to the quake victims. The campaign also aims to spread awareness about earthquake.
The FNCCI said it has already collected Rs 4.5 million under the campaign, and medicines, food, water are also being collected. It said that information about the campaign can be obtained from http://www.facebook.com/eqnepal.
For the purpose of cash collection, the FNCCI has opened an account at the Everest Bank, Kalimati under the name ‘FNCCI Earth Quake Relief Fund’ with account number 03700105200399. The cash can be deposited through swift code EVBLNPKA.
The private sector body has also urged all its district chambers, commodities association and associate members to provide as much support as possible to the quake victims.
Meanwhile, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) International has donated $10, 000 to Nepal to provide relief to the earthquake victims and for restoration of heritage sites.
