Chilime Hydropower Plant Damaged by the Flood, Six Employees Missing

Chilime Hydropower Company Limited’s 22.1 MW Chilime Hydropower Plant has been severely damaged by the recent floods in the Chilime area of Rasuwa.

Six employees working in the powerhouse tunnel area remain out of contact following the disaster. The powerhouse has suffered extensive damage and is currently not in a condition to resume operations. The 111 MW Rasuwagadhi Hydropwer Plant, promoted under the leadership of Chilime Hydropower has also been completely damaged by the flood.

The disaster has damaged roads, electricity infrastructure, communication services and local settlements, making access, communication and rescue operations difficult. The company said efforts are underway to rescue the missing employees and repair damaged electricity, roads and other infrastructure in the area.
