Asian Hydropower Ltd. Reports Severe Damage to Lower Jogmai Khola Hydropower Project Due to Landslides and Floods

Asian Hydropower Ltd. has stated that, as per prior warnings issued by the Government of Nepal and relevant authorities, continuous rainfall has affected various regions of the country, including Ilam district and surrounding areas, since 18th Ashwin 2082 BS. The resulting human and material losses are already known.

In the early hours of 19th Ashwin 2082, around 2–3 AM, unexpected landslides and flooding severely damaged the physical infrastructure of the Lower Jogmai Khola Hydropower Project (6.2 MW), constructed and operated by Asian Hydropower Ltd. Since flooding in the river has not fully subsided, the assessment of damages is still ongoing. At present, electricity generation from the project has been completely halted.
