63% More Investors Trade Shares Today Compared to Data only 5 Months Back

NEPSE has unveiled the brokerwise client details up to February 21, 2021, i.e. Falgun 09, 2077.
The data shows a huge surge in the number of active investors and users of the online trading system. When we last covered the stats, back in September 30 of last year, there were a total of 3,37,360 active investors in the 50 broker companies combined. Now, just 5 months back, there are a total of 5,50,409 active clients in the broker companies.
This is a 63% increase in the number of investors in the country. All this happened during just 5 months of NEPSE's bullish run.
Out of all the total 50 licensed broker companies, Dipshikha Dhitopatra Karobar Co. Pvt Ltd. (Broker 38) has the most 28,428 active clients. Last September, it only had 17,751 active clients. Meanwhile, Sagarmatha Securities Private Limited has the least 3897 active clients.
Meanwhile, Naasa Securities Co. Ltd. comes first in the number of clients using the online trading platform as of February 21, with 17,977 active online users. Its online client count is 36,327.
All in all, the broker companies seem to have increased their client profile impressively in a span of fewer than two quarters.
When we look at the overall data, we see that 35.6% of the active clients from all the broker companies use the online platform actively. According to the official website of CDS and Clearing Limited, there are a total of 28,94,319 citizens in Nepal who have a Demat account. If all these investors become active investors one day or another, the volume of participation that we'll see in the secondary market is unimaginable.
