NEPSE DROPS 1.62 POINTS

Following the yesterday’s loss, the market index Nepse today also continued its downfall as it plunged by 1.62 points to close at 500.76 levels. Though the local bourse at one time made a bounce from 500.06 levels to 501.85 levels, the last minute drop in the level of Nepal Doorsanchar Company Limited (NTC) from Rs 555 to Rs 547 pulled the market down to the today’s closing.
Among the sub-indices, apart from Hotels sector all settled in the red zone, the Hotels sector today made a jump of 1.89 points. As for Banking and Financial sub-indices, Banking suffered a loss of 1.55 points, Development dropped 0.41 point and Finance tumbled by 0.89 point. In Development, Nepal Rastra Bank rejected the proposal of Supreme Development Bank's (SUPRME) 10% cash dividend and 5% bonus share but directed the company to transfer the profit amount to reserve; the rejection by the NRB cost the company’s share price to drop by Rs 6 in the market today.
Similarly, Hydro stumbled by 4.88 points following the descent in the level of Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company Limited (NHPC) and Butwal Power Co. Ltd. (BPCL) by Rs 14 and Rs 11 respectively. Likewise, Insurance fell by 1 point and Others sector plummeted by 3.53 points.
Overall there were trades of 88 scrips among which 30 scrips increased 13 remained intact and 45 scrips decreased. The best performer for the day was, Asian Life Insurance Co. Limited (ALIC), closed at Rs 237, with Rs 18 or 8.22% gain. Whereas, Nepal Bank Limited (NBL), closed at Rs 626, was the worst performer with Rs 69 or 9.93% loss.
In case of the highest shares traded, National Hydro Power Co. (NHPC), closed at Rs 67, topped with 18,000 units. Among the ordinary shares trading above par, Nepal Bank Limited (NBL) topped with 13,940 units.
In terms of highest turnover, Everest Bank Ltd (EBL), closed at Rs 1544, topped with 12,260 units worth Rs 18,836,925 via 22 transactions; in which Broker no 13 (Thrive Brokerage House Pvt. Limited) and Broker No 17 (ABC Securities Pvt. Limited) were the most active Broker with 30.55% stand alone dealing of EBL by each, tallying 7,500 units worth Rs 11,512,500 via 1 transaction with each other.
Altogether there were trade of 181,803 units of share via 1,064 transactions worth Rs 73,704,459; the market capitalization at the day stood at Rs 488,220.76 Millions.
