Weekly Wrap-up (Review Period March 15 to March 19, 2015)

The Benchmark Index of Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) dipped down by double digit of 10.82 points or 1.11 percent to close at 967.62 level compared to last week closing of 978.44.

Similarly NEPSE Sensitive and Float dropped by 2.33 and 0.61 points to stand at 205.75 and 68.17 levels respectively.

Starting the week with the plunge of 7.76 points at closing level of 970.68 on the 1st trading day, the local bourse further more decreased by 11.54 points on Monday to end at 959.14 level.

However the benchmark index witnessed surge of 4.32 points, 0.78 point and 3.38 points on remain 3 trading days of the week by closing at 963.46, 964.24 and 967.62 levels respectively.

The highest and the lowest closing of the week was of 970.68 and 959.14 levels on Sunday and Monday respectively.

Fraud in the transactions of shares in the secondary market led the restriction of Broker No. 6 (Agrawal Securities), Broker No. 7 (JF Securities), Broker No. 22 (Siprabi Securities), and Broker No. 56 (Sri Hari Securities) to execute trade on behalf of their client by NEPSE  on Sunday (March 15) amid the lowering of confidence among the investors.

However suspension on Broker 7 and Broker 22 was lifted on Monday (March 16).

On the other hand appointment of Dr. Chiranjivi Nepal as a new Governor on Thursday (March 19) cheered the investors in the market.

Among the sub-indices, Banking loosed 9.74 points or 1.14 percent to close at 842.87 level than last week.

Similarly Development (815.93) and Finance (539.19) dropped by 13.96 points and 2.54 points respectively.

Insurance (4154) and Others (742.5) gravitated by double digit of 58.15 points and 12.92 points than last week respectively.

HydroPower (2231.08) dipped by 4.09 points whereas Manufacturing (1455.78) surged 9.47 points compared to last week respectively.

Hotels gained 2.89 points to close at 2024.69 level than last week.

Altogether 2,168,198 unit shares were traded this week through 7,109 transactions worth total of Rs 851.86 million.

The average turnover of the week amounted Rs 170.37 million.
