Voter Turnout Reaches 45 Percent By 4 PM: EC

Voter turnout in the ongoing House of Representatives elections has reached 45 percent across the country today, according to the Election Commission.

By 4 pm, 84,60,677 votes (out of altogether 1,89,03,689 registered voters) had been cast across 165 constituencies, said EC.

Voting continues at 10,967 polling stations across the country with no major incidents reported so far, said the EC.

There are altogether 189,03,689 eligible voters—including 96,63,358 men, 92,40,131 women and 200 others---across the country.

A total of 65 political parties are contesting the polls with 61 electoral symbols. Altogether 3,406 candidates--3,017 male, 388 female, and 1 other--are running through the first-past-the-post electoral system.
