Valley Municipal Forum asks to shut public transport till Aug 31

The Valley Municipal Forum, the common forum of local bodies of Kathmandu, has suggested the government to close public transportation till August 31, saying coronavirus infection has been spreading in an expedited manner after the resumption of public transportation in Kathmandu valley.

A meeting of the Forum held on Wednesday took the decision in this regard. The meeting also asked the government to make checking at the entry points to Kathmandu Valley strict in view of the risk of the spread of the coronavirus infection at the community level.

Similarly, the Forum suggested the federal government run the integrated quarantine as per Quarantine Management and Operation Regulation, considering the high number of arrivals from third countries. The meeting also asked the local level for its management.

The forum drew the government's attention to completely stop the rally, gatherings to be organized in favour and against the government as well as cultural activities like a procession. It also decided to coordinate for taking action against those moving without a mask in order to reduce the possibility of spreading infection.

A press release issued by Forum reads that the meeting decided to close services provided by local levels except essential for three weeks as well as to bring those hotels, restaurants, shopping malls under the ambit of action if they are not found adopting safety measures.
