US Dollar Hits All-Time High as Nepal Rastra Bank Sets New Exchange Rates

The Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has fixed the official foreign exchange rates for today (Sunday), with the US dollar reaching an all-time high against the Nepali rupee.

According to the central bank, the buying rate of one US dollar has been set at Rs 146.81, while the selling rate stands at Rs 147.41. This marks the highest level the US dollar has ever reached in the Nepali foreign exchange market, reflecting continued pressure on the local currency.

Among other major currencies, the European euro has been fixed at a buying rate of Rs 172.31 and a selling rate of Rs 173.02. Similarly, the UK pound sterling is being traded at Rs 198.58 for buying and Rs 199.39 for selling. The Swiss franc has been set at Rs 185.61 for buying and Rs 186.37 for selling.

The Australian dollar is valued at Rs 100.55 for buying and Rs 100.96 for selling, while the Canadian dollar is valued at Rs 106.50 and Rs 106.94, respectively. Likewise, the Singapore dollar has been fixed at a buying rate of Rs 114.75 and a selling rate of Rs 115.22.

As per the NRB, the buying rate for 10 Japanese yen has been set at Rs 9.27 and the selling rate at Rs 9.31. The Chinese yuan is being traded at Rs 21.08 for buying and Rs 21.17 for selling. Similarly, the Saudi Arabian riyal has been fixed at Rs 39.15 for buying and Rs 39.31 for selling, while the Qatari riyal stands at Rs 40.28 and Rs 40.45 respectively.

Other currencies include the Thai baht at Rs 4.71 for buying and Rs 4.72 for selling, the UAE dirham at Rs 39.97 and Rs 40.13, and the Malaysian ringgit at Rs 36.65 and Rs 36.80. The buying rate for 100 South Korean won has been fixed at Rs 10 and the selling rate at Rs 10.04. Similarly, the Swedish krona has been set at Rs 16.27 for buying and Rs 16.34 for selling, while the Danish krone stands at Rs 23.07 and Rs 23.16 respectively.

The central bank has also fixed the Hong Kong dollar at Rs 18.83 for buying and Rs 18.90 for selling. The Kuwaiti dinar, one of the strongest currencies, has been valued at Rs 480.32 for buying and Rs 482.28 for selling. Likewise, the Bahraini dinar stands at Rs 389.39 and Rs 390.98, and the Omani riyal at Rs 381.35 and Rs 382.91.

For the Indian currency, the NRB has fixed the buying rate of INR 100 at Rs 160 and the selling rate at Rs 160.15.

The Nepal Rastra Bank has stated that these exchange rates may be revised at any time as required. It also noted that the rates determined by commercial banks may vary, and the updated exchange rates are available on the central bank’s official website.
