Upper Mai Hydropower Plant Resumes Power Generation After Expansion Joint Repair
Panchakanya Mai Hydropower Limited’s 9.98 MW Upper Mai Hydropower Project has resumed electricity generation following the successful repair of a leaking expansion joint in the project’s tunnel.
The company said the plant resumed operations at 3:02 PM on Ashwin 16, 2083 after the repair work was completed.
The power generation at the project had been halted unexpectedly from 6:10 PM on Bhadra 21, 2083, after excessive water leakage was detected in the expansion joint of the project.
According to Panchakanya Mai Hydropower, the extent of leakage required the tunnel to be completely emptied to carry out the necessary repair work on the expansion joint.
As a result, electricity generation from the 9.98 MW Upper Mai Hydropower Project was suspended while the repair work was undertaken.
The company has now confirmed that the expansion joint has been repaired and the project has returned to normal operation.
Following completion of the repair, the Upper Mai Hydropower Project resumed electricity generation at 3:02 PM on Ashwin 16.
The company said the resumption of operations has restored power generation from the 9.98 MW project after the temporary shutdown caused by the technical issue.
