Unilever Nepal’s Profit Falls 19.54% to Rs. 39.08 Crore as Revenue Declines

Unilever Nepal Limited (UNL) reported a net profit of Rs. 39.08 Crore in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2082/83, marking a 19.54% decline from Rs. 48.57 Crore recorded in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year.
The decline in profitability came as the company’s revenue from operations fell 4.03% to Rs. 7.91 Arba from Rs. 8.25 Arba a year earlier. Meanwhile, earnings per share (EPS) declined by 19.54% to Rs. 424.32, compared to Rs. 527.36 in the previous year.
Unilever Nepal’s total expenses increased by 2.22% to Rs. 6.10 Arba during the review period, compared to Rs. 5.97 Arba in the corresponding quarter last year.
Other income also declined by 23.66% to Rs. 12.26 Crore from Rs. 16.06 Crore, putting additional pressure on the company’s bottom line.
The company maintained its paid-up capital at Rs. 9.21 Crore, while other equity stood at Rs. 5.01 Arba, down 2.48% year-on-year.
Investment in fixed deposits declined sharply by 60.03% to Rs. 1.00 Arba. In contrast, cash and cash equivalents increased by 65.63% to Rs. 1.44 Arba.
Inventories also increased significantly by 41.89% to Rs. 1.55 Arba, while trade receivables declined marginally by 2.28% to Rs. 1.41 Arba.
Property, plant and equipment increased by 8.73% to Rs. 1.69 Arba.
Unilever Nepal’s net worth per share stood at Rs. 5,537.13, down 2.44% from Rs. 5,675.57 a year earlier.
At the end of the quarter, the company’s shares were priced at Rs. 47,200, with a price-to-earnings (P/E) ratio of 111.24 times.
