Trishuli Jal Vidhyut Company’s 37 MW Upper Trishuli 3B Project Structures Completely Destroyed by Flood

Trishuli Jal Vidhyut Company Limited (TVCL) has reported that the massive flash flood in the Bhotekoshi River has completely damaged the structures of its under-construction 37 MW Upper Trishuli 3B Hydropower Project in Nuwakot.

According to the company, a sudden and devastating flood entered Nepal through Rasuwagadhi from the Tibet region of China on Bhadra 10, 2083, causing extensive destruction along the Bhotekoshi River corridor.

The flood severely affected the hydropower project being constructed at Sirupani, Kispang Rural Municipality–5, Nuwakot. TVCL stated that the structures of the 37 MW Upper Trishuli 3B Hydropower Project have been completely damaged by the disaster.

The scale of destruction has raised significant concerns over the project's infrastructure and future construction activities.

TVCL also reported that the whereabouts of most of the employees currently working at the hydropower project remain unknown following the disaster.

The company is yet to provide further details regarding the condition of the affected employees as efforts continue to assess the situation and establish contact with those working at the project site.

The flash flood has caused widespread damage to infrastructure and communities along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river corridors, with hydropower projects among the facilities severely affected.
