Traffic Police Collect Rs 1.15 Million in Fines Across Kathmandu Valley

In the last 24 hours until this morning, the Kathmandu Valley reported 2,453 traffic rule violations. A total of Rs 1.15 million was collected in fines from those found violating traffic regulations.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, the recorded violations included 105 cases of drunk driving, 238 cases of ride-sharing against regulations, 184 traffic signal violations, 14 lane-discipline violations, and 186 cases of over-speeding, informed Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office Spokesperson and Superintendent of Police Naresh Raj Subedi.

Similarly, there were 119 cases of unnecessary honking in restricted zones, 100 cases of roadside and pavement parking, 139 additional cases linked to speeding, 319 cases of driving on one-way roads, and 1,368 other traffic-related offences.

The Traffic Police Office has urged the public to strictly follow traffic regulations, stating that drunk driving and other traffic rule violations are punishable by law. People have also been requested to report such incidents to the nearest traffic office, the traffic control room (hotline 103), or police hotline 100.
