Traffic police collect over Rs 5.4 lakh from rule violators in Kathmandu

Over the past 24 hours, the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office took action against 1,994 motorists for different traffic violations, collecting a total revenue of Rs 541,502 in fines.

Among the offenders, 127 drivers were caught driving under the influence of alcohol, while 142 were found involved in unauthorized ride-sharing services. In addition, 149 motorists violated traffic light rules and 103 were penalized for overspeeding.

The police also recorded 158 lane discipline violations, 130 cases of unnecessary honking in restricted zones, 128 incidents of roadside parking violations, and 95 drivers traveling on one-way roads. Another 962 motorists were booked for various other traffic-related offenses.

The enforcement campaign reflects the continued efforts of traffic authorities to improve road safety and encourage stricter adherence to traffic regulations across the Kathmandu Valley.
