Tourists from neighbouring countries important for Nepal

Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Ananda Prasad Pokharel said the tourists arriving from neighbouring countries – India and China – were significant in developing Nepal’s tourism sector. At a programme held on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Nepal National Mountain Guides Association (NNMGA), Minister Pokharel said the government would introduce more programmes to encourage tourists from neighbouring countries to visit Nepal. Director General at Department of Tourism Govinda Bahadur Karki called for increasing the number of mountain guides of international standards in Nepal. NNMGA Chair Dorje Lama and Nepal Mountaineering Association Chair Thang Chirring Sherpa spoke on the ways to promote Nepal’s tourism industry. On the occasion, tourism journalist Hariraj Joshi was given away Rs 30,125 in cash prize for his contribution to tourism sector of the country. Tourism journalists Raju Silwal and Devi Pant among others were also felicitated at the programme. RSS
