Suspension Bridge in Gulmi Completed Five Months Ahead of Deadline
A suspension bridge connecting Chhaldibar and Palukha villages in Isma Rural Municipality-2 of Gulmi district has been completed five months ahead of its scheduled deadline, bringing significant relief to local residents.
The 146-meter-long bridge was constructed by Aastha Samjhana JV Arghakhanchi at a cost of Rs 17.18 million. The project, initiated by the Road Infrastructure Development Office, Tamghas, had a completion deadline of August 19, 2026.
Locals have expressed happiness over the early completion, highlighting the hardships they previously faced, especially during the monsoon season. Yam Bahadur Thapa, a resident, said that children, students, elderly people, and patients had long struggled to cross the swollen river during rains, often risking their safety. With the bridge now in place, those challenges have been eliminated, while travel distance has also been significantly reduced.
Another local, Ramlal Ghimire, noted that the bridge has brought great relief to students and patients in particular. He also expressed optimism that improved connectivity would help boost local business activities in the area.
The timely completion of the bridge is expected to enhance mobility, safety, and economic opportunities for the communities in the region.
