KATHMANDU, Aug 24:

Sparrow SMS, a subsidiary of Janaki Technology, has introduced Sparrowsms mobile application with value added service (VAS) for the first time in Nepal. The app has been launched with the objective of easing people's access to information.

The app has been launched on Android platform.

Manish Modi, director of Janaki Technology, said the app features various services to simplify access to information. "The app will provide services like SLC and HSEB results, Dish Home recharge service, and IPO results, among others," said Modi.

According to the company, it has tried its best to provide users the best possible gateway for accessing important information. "Once the app is downloaded, it does not require Internet as it works completely offline. So even people in remote areas who do not have Internet or poor access to Internet can access the required information," Amit Agrawal, CEO of Janaki Technology, told Republica.

The app will provide information like exam results, information about government services like labor permit status, entertainment, foreign exchange rate, price of gold, vegetables and petroleum products, weather update, sports update, beauty tips, emergency contact numbers, and local and international news among others.

"Once the app is downloaded there is no need of sending SMS to know the results. One can just select the required option and see the needed results," said Modi.

The app works both in Nepali and English language. The app can be downloaded for free from the Google Playstore.
