Six CPN (UML) Ministers Resign from Bagmati Provincial Government, Withdraw Coalition Support

In a major political shift in Bagmati Province, six ministers from the CPN (UML) party have collectively resigned from their positions in the provincial government and officially withdrawn their support.

The ministers handed their joint resignation letters to Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya following direct instructions from their party leadership. Jagannath Thapaliya, the leader of the CPN (UML) parliamentary party in Bagmati Province, confirmed that the party has formally stepped back from the coalition government.

With the withdrawal of support from CPN (UML), Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya is now required under constitutional rules to seek and win a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly within 30 days to maintain his government.

The six CPN (UML) ministers who stepped down from the Bagmati provincial government are Dr. Dinesh Chandra Devkota (Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development), Madhusudan Paudel (Minister for Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, and Environment), Bindu Shrestha (Minister for Industry, Tourism, Labour, and Transport), Kiran Thapa (Minister handling the Health portfolio under the Ministry of Health and Social Development), Jayaram Thapa (Minister handling the Transport portfolio under the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Labour, and Transport), and Bharat Bahadur KC (Minister handling the Forestry and Environment portfolio under the Ministry of Agriculture).
