Sana Kisan Bikas Laghubitta Marks 25th Anniversary; Vice-Chair Bhatta Says Govt on Track for 7% Growth

Dr. Gunakar Bhatta, Vice-Chair of the National Planning Commission, said the government is progressing steadily toward its target of achieving 7 percent economic growth by revitalizing the economy through coordinated efforts involving the public, private, and cooperative sectors.

Speaking at the 25th anniversary of Sana Kisan Bikas Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd., Bhatta praised the institution's contribution to poverty reduction and rural economic development, stating that it has the potential to be developed into a specialized financial institution due to its strong impact among smallholder farmers.

He also emphasized that strengthening small farmers and promoting micro and small enterprises will play a key role in Nepal's broader economic and social transformation. During the event, the institution recognized several outstanding branches and partner organizations for their performance and contribution

Bhatt stressed that improving the livelihoods of small farmers is essential for achieving sustainable economic and social transformation. He said the government remains committed to supporting agriculture, micro and small enterprises, and major infrastructure projects simultaneously to create broader economic opportunities.
