SAARC CCI meeting to start tomorrow

KATHMANDU:

The SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SAARC CCI) has scheduled its executive committee meeting in Delhi from March 10 to 12.

The meeting will lay emphasis on boosting intra regional trade and investment through the implementation of regional agreements. “As the 18th SAARC summit had envisioned deeper integration in the region, the SAARC CCI will discuss about its engagement in implementing regional agreements,” said Suraj Vaidya, acting president of SAARC CCI.

Vaidya will reportedly chair the meeting.The SAARC CCI meeting will discuss on the transit and trade issues in South Asia and sub-regional cooperation.

In this regard, SAARC CCI has planned two projects namely, SAARC Shipping Company and SAARC Transport and Logistics Company with the involvement of both the public and private sectors.

Likewise, the meeting will discuss on private sector engagement in the implementation of SAARC Framework Agreement on Energy, that was signed during the 18th SAARC summit in Kathmandu, last year.

“The SAARC CCI has planned to organise various events by inviting representatives of large scale energy

companies, and energy practitioners for business-to-business meetings which will be discussed in the meeting,” as per Vaidya.
