Run for the Environment 2026: A Collective Step Toward a Greener Nepal
“Run for the Environment 2026,” organized by Doko Foundation with support from the United Nations in Nepal, is a 6-kilometer simultaneous run taking place in Kathmandu and Pokhara on June 5, 2026. The open and free event aims to promote environmental awareness and encourage collective action toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to climate action, health, and nature conservation.
Beyond a simple race, the initiative serves as a public commitment to a more sustainable future, especially in the face of growing challenges like climate change, pollution, and environmental degradation. It emphasizes that every individual has a role in building a healthier planet, where each step symbolizes support for cleaner air, greener forests, and stronger communities.
As part of its environmental commitment, Doko Foundation will plant one native tree for every five participants. The event will also feature post-run sustainability activities, including interactive games, recycled art installations, and eco-friendly stalls showcasing practical green solutions. Overall, the program highlights the importance of collaboration among governments, organizations, and citizens in achieving the 2030 SDGs.
