PM Balendra Shah Calls Emergency Disaster Council Meeting

Prime Minister Balendra Shah has called an emergency meeting of the National Disaster Council to review and coordinate further action regarding flood at Rasuwa.

The emergency meeting will take place at 11:00 AM today at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, according to Press Advisor Deepa Dahal.

A meeting of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority is currently underway at the Ministry of Home Affairs in Singha Durbar, chaired by Home Minister Sudhan Gurung.

The government has shared details regarding its efforts and preparations following a sudden flash flood and landslide in Rasuwa.

According to Asim Shah, the political advisor to Prime Minister Balendra Shah, security forces including the Nepali Army, the Armed Police Force, and the Nepal Police have been deployed to lead rescue and relief operations. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority is also actively managing the emergency response.

To ensure safety, the Chief District Officer has been instructed to move residents living in low-lying downstream areas to safer ground immediately. Additionally, all available helicopters, including those owned by private companies, have been put on standby to assist with urgent rescue and relief missions if needed.
