Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen) has directed health officials to immediately move forward with plans to establish well equipped burn treatment centers in all seven provinces of Nepal. Speaking during a meeting with the vice chancellors of various health science institutes, the Prime Minister emphasized the urgent need to expand these specialized medical facilities across the country to ensure accessible healthcare for all citizens.

In addition to expanding burn centers, the Prime Minister instructed private hospitals to strictly implement a policy requiring them to provide at least 10 percent of their outpatient department (OPD) services to underprivileged citizens free of cost or at a discount. He stressed that making health services affordable and improving the quality of medical care must remain top priorities.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of clean management, good governance, and the use of digital technology in the healthcare sector. Furthermore, he directed authorities to take strict legal action against anyone involved in illegally encroaching upon lands owned by government run medical institutions.

This moves comes after the recent back to back self immolation case in Nepal, last week more than 3 people were recorded in self immolation cases where Ganesh Nepali, 25, Mugu, died during the treatment process in Bir Hospital, Kathmandu.
