Over 2,100 Vehicles Penalized for Traffic Rule Violations in Kathmandu Valley

Traffic police have taken action against 2,157 vehicles for breaching traffic regulations across the Kathmandu Valley in the last 24 hours.

According to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, the enforcement drive generated more than Rs 2.14 million in revenue for the state treasury through traffic fines collected from violators.

Officials said the violations included 82 cases of driving under the influence of alcohol, 101 cases related to unauthorized ride-sharing, 105 traffic signal violations, and 117 incidents of overspeeding.

Traffic police also booked 77 motorists for breaching lane discipline, while 61 drivers were penalized for unnecessary honking in restricted areas.

Likewise, 54 vehicles were found operating on one-way roads, and 22 vehicles faced action for using illegally tinted black windows.

The remaining 1,538 motorists were penalized for various other traffic-related offences, the office added, stressing continued monitoring to improve road safety and traffic discipline in the Valley.
