President of Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FNCCI), Pashupati Murarka, has said the Tarai-Madhes agitation ongoing for the past four months has put the country at risk of an economic crisis.
Opening the first national 'Kiwi Festival and Industrial Agro Exhibition' in Ilam Wednesday, Murarka called on the political parties to take immediate measures to calm down the agitation and thereby prevent the country from plunging into the economic crisis.
There was a great hope among the people that country would attain a rapid economic growth after the promulgation of new constitution, but the post-constitution period has gone completely against the people's aspiration, he said.
On the occasion, the FNCCI President announced Rs 16.7 million to the Ilam Chamber of Commerce and Industries on behalf of the Federation for establishing new industries in the district. Of the promised amount, FNCCI first vice president Bhawani Rana handed a cheque of Rs 4.5 million ( first installment) to Ilam Chamber President Sushila Sapkota.
The event jointly organised by the Ilam Chamber and District Agricultural Development Office has showcased over hundred stalls about Kiwi products (ranging from pickle to beverage) and agro produces. RSS
