The Nepal Institute for International Cooperation and Engagement (NIICE) held a high-level seminar on July 9 in Kathmandu, focusing on "Terrorism in South Asia: Challenges to Regional Peace and Security." Key speakers, including former ministers, diplomats, and security experts, highlighted the threat posed by terrorist groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed, emphasizing Nepal's potential use as a transit point.

Concerns were raised about Pakistan’s role in supporting terrorism, the impact on SAARC, and the economic and security repercussions across the region. Calls were made for intelligence sharing, joint border security, combating money laundering, and avoiding double standards in counter-terrorism. The seminar concluded with a strong appeal for regional cooperation and global solidarity against terrorism, drawing participation from over 150 stakeholders.
