New Nepal through reconstruction, says Minister Rai

Minister for Information and Communications Sherdhan Rai has said the only objective of the government is to lay the foundation of a new Nepal through the post-earthquake reconstruction mega campaign. Inaugurating the greetings and picnic programme organised by Nepal Rastriya Tamang Ghedung on the occasion of the Sonam Lhochhar festival and the Tamang New Year 2852 at Godavari today, he said a new Nepal could be built from the reconstruction of the structures destroyed by the April 25 earthquake. He stressed that the Sonam Lhochhar festival should be celebrated as the national festival and not just as the festival belonging only to the Tamang community. The Minister opined that the constitution has addressed the gap between the different castes, ethnic communities and religions in different areas of the country. He also underlined that all the communities should take initiatives for the implementation of the constitution while ensuring their rights enshrined in the constitution, saying the constitution has guaranteed the identity and the fundamental rights of all the communities. General Secretary of Nepal Tamang Ghedung Kumar Blon stressed on the need of constructing a common cultural policy incorporating the identity of all the castes and communities. On the occasion, Minister Rai also felicitated the newly-elected president of All Nepal National Free Students Union, Nabina Lama and secretary Arati Lama. Likewise, the Information and Communications Minister felicitated Urmila Yonjan, who is crowned the Miss Tamang 2016, Samjhana Thokkar, the first runner-up and Shikshya Yonjan, the second runner-up in the Miss Tamang beauty contest.
