New investment policy on cards

The Ministry of Industry has intensified preparations for the new investment policy to attract more foreign investment.

The Industry Minister's Secretariat has said the new policy has focused economic prosperity and it is being endorsed very soon.

Ajay Sharma, Press Coordinator of the Industry Minister, said the new policy will replace the foreign investment and one-door policy.

It is expected that the new policy would augment the attraction towards special economic zone which would ultimately invite additional foreign investment.

According to Minister for Industry, Mahesh Basnet, the Ministry has initiated a campaign to augment the public awareness on industrial issues.

A total of 513 persons have been trained under the industrial awareness programme while 2,094 under the technical consultation programme launched by the Ministry.
