NEPSE to Remain Closed Today, Govt Declares Public Holiday on The Occasion of Indra Jatra

The Government of Nepal has declared a public holiday for today, Friday, 9th Ashwin, to celebrate the 'Indra Jatra' festival of the Newar community.

Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will remain closed in observance of Indra Jatra, with regular trading set to resume from 11:00 AM on 12th Ashwin, 2083.

Indra Jatra, also known as Yenya, is the largest religious street festival in Kathmandu. It features two main events: Indra Jatra and Kumari Jatra, celebrated with masked dances of deities and demons, along with the display of sacred images and tableaus honoring Indra, the king of heaven.
